"The Scout Master teaches the boys to play the game by doing so himself"
-Robert Baden-Powell
When you camp as a Cub Scout, you are exposed to the skills you will need to camp as a Boy Scout. Pack 113's leadership team recently organized a family campout at Rocky Woods in Medfield where they demonstrated some great camping skills. The event opened with a flag ceremony. Then there were group games like Streets & Alley, Grab the Bacon and Capture the Flag. Some scouts worked on their fire making skills and others enjoyed looking for frogs and newts in the pond. To celebrate Cinco de Mayo the leadership team organized a Mexican themed dinner, where the scouts learned to cook in foil pouches over the fire. The scouts really enjoyed assembling and seasoning their own packets.
After dinner the Scouts sang songs, made s'mores and told stories around the campfire. In the morning the scouts and their families were greeted by a freshly cooked English breakfast & coffee. It was a wonderful weekend!
Please remember that Scouts and their families are encouraged to join these events even if they do not sleep over. If you want to camp out in the future and are in need of help locating the right equipment, please contact the leadership team.
