2023 Pinewood Derby

The 2023 Pinewood Derby is done and it is certainly one for the history books! We raced 75 cars, awarded 43 trophies and demonstrated tremendous Scout Spirit as we dealt with audio issues at the start and track issues at the end.

For those that weren't there, the track timer malfunctioned at the start of the Siblings race.  So we had to go "old school" and use our cameras to record each heat to see who won. The races were so close that you couldn't determine the order without slo-mo replay. But everyone was a good sport and  had a lot of fun.

Here are the results for this year's Pinewood Derby. Due to the track/software issues, we didn't capture the winners of the Siblings or Pack 113 Championship race:

Lions:

1st place:      Daniel Segal

2nd place:     Andrew Brown

3rd place:     Wesley Kershaw

4th place:     Tyler Daniels

Scout Spirit:  Wade Briedis

Tigers:

1st place:         Finn Bauer

2nd place:        Hunter Grof

3rd place:        Jake MacBeth

Wolves:

1st place:        AJ Curry

CrossOver Ceremony and Blue & Gold Celebration

Crossover Ceremony and Blue & Gold Celebration - March 5th, 2022

Pack 113 Cub Scouts and their families got together to award the Arrow of Light to the Webelos. The Arrow of Light is Cub Scouts highest award and is the only Cub Scout Award that can still be worn once a scout enters Scouts BSA.

The Senior Patrol of Troop 89 was on hand to welcome the Webelos who "cross over" to Scouts BSA. They welcomed the Scouts to their Troop by giving them the Boy Scout epaulets, a troop 89 patch, and an official Troop 89 class B T-shirt and Hat.

After the crossover ceremony, the Pack celebrated the 112th anniversary of the founding of Scouts BSA at the the Blue & Gold banquet. Cake and refreshments were served and entertainment was provided by "Solar Shelly" of Mad Science. The Scouts had a blast and learned about the laws of motion.

We were then joined by Atomic Allen who put on a fantastic Science, not magic!, show for the scouts.
